"the gunman was identified as Malik Nadal Hasan"

They are trying so hard right now to minimize the islamic angle, but in the end the truth will cme out. Hasan was carrying out his commands from the Qu'ran, Jihad as Islam requires.

It's easy to assume because of his name that it was a terrorist attack wrapped in Islamic extremism. He could just as easily be an asshole that cracked and went postal. I'll wait on what comes out in the days and weeks to come. *I don't really care if it's one or another this is terrible and disgusting.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the dead and wounded and those deployed who are worrying more about what is going home more than they normally would, in addition to what is staring down them down range.

Yep, I don't think there has been anything close to this on a military installation since the Towle Stadium incident...but that was 1 killed 20 wounded.

The only thing I can think of that compared in number of people killed was the crash at Pope AFB green ramp.

As far as deaths on installations? I don't know. We've had plenty of wrecks. That one at Pope was 20 something. My memory is foggy. I'm sure that was the worse for the 82nd since WWII for peacetime operations.

Ft. Bragg also had a cluster of SOF murder suicides during the early days of the GWOT.

This shrink went to VT, not that it has anything to do with that rampage.

Not that it has anything to do with the shooting, but Aug 11, 1955 66 service members perished when two USAF C-119 Flying Boxcars collided near Stuttgart, Germany.

I remember the "Summer of Love" as we jaded pouge HQ types called those days.

It was crazy, all the stupid ass reporters wanted it to somehow be connected to the malaria pills of vaccinations or something that caused psychosis.

I couldn't believe those people claimed to be military journalists when it was obvious that they were spousal infidelities, and alcohol involved in almost every case.

Apparently the shooter is alive. I am glad to an extent. I think being killed on the scene or committing suicide is letting him off easy. I'd really like to see him rot in jail for life. They would have a field day with him in Leavenworth or any other service prison.

I had heard the malaria connection from your favorite USMC photog. I never bought into that. I always figured it was infidelity, booze, and the stress of the job... not something as simple as a medication... there would have been more murder suicides if it were that simple.

I'll be very surprised if this has anything to do with extremism.

Examiner if half of that is true it is possible.

He was in line to be deployed, sounds like he didn't want to go according to relatives in NoVA that have talked to local affiliates. He supposedly got a lot of shit in the Army because of his ethnicity from other service members.

If he didn't want to be deployed there are probably a dozen ways to get out of it that don't involve gunning down people in cold blood.

The postings about the suicide bombing could be a clue, but he was more than likely just another whackjob.

Like the other VT guy mentioned, he probably just snapped.

There won't be any real connections made to any terrorist network.

I just got back from our Muslim Jihad meeting and apparently, this one wasn't ours.
